The entire UCDRH family showed up to watch the last few games

Division One Team Makes Strong Showing

Facing tough opposition (second place CSUSB, fourth place Cal Poly SLO, and first place UC Irvine), the Aggies went 2-1. Following a hard fought victory over Cal Poly, the Aggies only loss was a nail-biting 5-4 loss to UC Irvine, which is ranked #4 in the nation. The Aggies fought off a strong comeback by the CSUSB Coyotes and finished off a strong victory. The UCDRH B team was in the stands for the final game, which started at 10:30pm. The only fans in the building, the B team Aggies were as loud as possible and cleared the way for the other Aggies to take home the bacon. Strong tournaments were logged by all on the A team yet Ryan Luzum, Pat Casey, and Sam Ziadeh looked especially sharp on the rink.

B Team Handed Tough Defeats

Unfortunately, the B team's hopes for a surprise playoff birth were dashed this past weekend. Facing tough teams (UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara Blue, and UCSB Gold), the Aggies were sent home with a 0-5 record this past weekend. Expected to be embarassed in all of their games, the Aggies stayed tough to the end, avoiding anything to be embarassed about. The younger Ag's lost twice to UCSD (2-5, 3-6), twice to Santa Barbara Gold (3-5, 1-9), and once to SB Blue (3-5). Outgoing Captain and Player-Coach, Peter Shenkin said of the weekend, "You know, it's upsetting that we couldn't beat these teams to get a playoff spot but we really don't have anything to be upset about. These teams all have players that are older and more experienced than the majority of our players. We've learned so much and gotten so much better from where we were a month ago that we almost forget that we were supposed to be blown out. Are we dissappointed? Yes and no. I think most of my guys just want to get ready for next year." Well, good luck next season Ags. Work hard!
