The UCD Men's Roller Hockey club hosts the first tournament of the year in Davis this weekend. Of the ten games they are hosting, they will play in four. Teams also attending this weekend's tournament include: UC Berkeley, Cal Poly SLO, Chico State, Evergreen Valley College, and UC Santa Barbara. Competition figures to be fierce as the teams will jockey for position behind Division One front-runners UC Irvine and Long Beach State.

The season has been difficult for the Aggies so far. The Ags started the season with a short-handed and young roster that relied on defensive schemes and fortuituous offense. It is the hope of all the Aggies that those days are over and that the addition of Pat Steggall and the returns of Mike Gedestad and Chris Mertens will be a harbinger of good things to come. Currently, Sean Judge leads the Ags with 5 goals and Mike Saksen leads the Ags in points with seven (2G, 5A).

The Ags lead off the day tomorrow against third-place Cal Poly SLO-- the toughest game of the day-- at 11 am. The Ags then play the always offensively dangerous Evergreen Valley College at 1pm, the struggling UC Berkeley Golden Bears at 3pm, and then the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at 5pm. The UC Santa Barbara game promises to entertain as the Aggies will undoubtedly like to avenge their 4-2 loss earlier in the season. Upwards of a hundred people are expected to attend the final game at 5 pm.
